The Public Eye: Reputation and Penalties in Schedule I

In Schedule I, your performance is constantly scrutinized, both by your unseen superiors and the simulated public you serve. Your reputation is a crucial metric in this puzzle-simulation game, reflecting your efficiency, accuracy, and adherence to procedure. Neglecting your duties or making too many mistakes can lead to severe penalties, impacting your progression and overall standing within the bureaucratic machine.

Staying in Good Standing: Understanding Consequences

Every action has a reaction in the office.

  • Merit Points: Successfully processing documents correctly and efficiently earns you merit points. These points contribute to your reputation score and unlock higher-level tasks, new tools, and promotions.
  • Error Penalties: Incorrectly processed documents, misfiled forms, or missed deadlines result in error penalties. These deductions from your merit points are a direct reflection of your sloppiness.
  • Warning System: Persistent errors or severe mistakes might trigger a “Warning” from your department head. Accumulating too many warnings can lead to more drastic consequences.
  • Demotion/Suspension: In extreme cases of incompetence or repeated violations, you might face temporary suspension from duties, or even demotion to a lower-paying, less complex role, forcing you to climb the ladder again.
  • Public Complaints: While mostly unseen, a high rate of errors or delays can lead to “Public Complaints” that indirectly impact your department’s funding or your own reputation.

Maintain a high level of accuracy and efficiency to build a stellar reputation and avoid the pitfalls of penalties in Schedule I’s unforgiving bureaucratic landscape.
